Who Is An Ideal Candidate For Liposuction?

Many of our patients at Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC are diligent with their diet and exercise regimes yet still struggle with areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to these efforts. The most commonly affected areas of the body include:
- Abdomen
- Hips and Lower Back
- Bra Fat (mid-back)
- Upper Arms
- Buttocks
- Thighs
- Inner Knees
- Calves
- Neck and Jawline
If you are ready to address these troublesome areas and attain a more toned and sculpted figure, liposuction is an effective solution that can help you achieve your goals. Since this procedure typically delivers dramatic results with minimal recovery time, liposuction is one of the most popular body procedures among our patients. In addition, our LipoPerfection® external ultrasound-assisted technique can reduce your overall downtime, increase your comfort during recovery, and ultimately provide you with smoother contours compared to traditional liposuction techniques.
Ideal candidates for liposuction will be at or near their ideal weight, with less than 10 or 20 pounds of excess subcutaneous fat isolated in the above “problem areas” that has proven resistant to traditional weight loss methods such as diet and exercise. The best candidates also have good skin elasticity and skin tone in the areas to be treated. Though liposculpture may be used to successfully contour the figure of a heavier patient, it is important to remember that liposuction is not intended to treat obesity or achieve major weight loss. During the consultation process, a physical exam, comprehensive review of your medical history, and conversation about your surgical expectations will help us determine if you are an ideal candidate for liposuction.

Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC Receives Office-Based Surgery Accreditation from The Joint Commission
Dr. Steven Yarinsky announces the fourth re-accreditation by The Joint Commission for Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC to perform office-based surgery.
Saratoga Springs, NY – Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC recently announced that it has received the Gold Seal of Approval® from The Joint Commission to perform office-based surgery, making this the fourth period since 2002 the practice has received accreditation. This status was awarded to the practice based on its ability to continuously meet high performance standards. With this Gold Seal of Approval®, Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC maintains its reputation as being committed to providing safe and effective patient care to achieve the best possible results.
To obtain this accreditation, Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC underwent a comprehensive on-site review on July 6, 2015 by a certified physician examiner. Throughout this evaluation, the practice’s ability to meet and exceed office-based surgery standards was considered. This covered such areas as coordination of care, patient education, monitoring patients under deep sedation or anesthesia, as well as care instructions following cosmetic surgery and surgical outcomes. Evaluation included staff interviews, examining patient processes, and additional facility observations.
Since it began in 2001, the Joint Commission’s Office-Based Surgery Accreditation program has been dedicated to overseeing surgical practices with four or fewer practitioners. About 400 medical offices nationwide maintain office-based surgery accreditation status which is awarded for three-year terms. Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery is the only medical/surgical office in the Capital District and Upstate New York to be accredited with this important safety designation.
“As patients across the United States increasingly receive cosmetic surgery care in an office-based setting, Joint Commission accreditation provides office-based surgery organizations with processes contributing to improvements in patient care across a variety of areas,” said Michael Kulczycki, Executive Director of the Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation program. “We commend Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery for its efforts to become and maintain itself as a quality improvement organization.”
“Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC is pleased to have been awarded The Joint Commission accreditation for the fourth time in the last 13 years,” explains Dr. Steven Yarinsky, Medical Director. “Our entire staff works to create and implement processes that continuously improve the care our patients receive.”
The Joint Commission’s standards for office-based surgery branch from the organization’s ambulatory care system standards of care. These standards are established with the help of healthcare providers, quality improvement experts, and patients. The standards are measured based on scientific findings as well as expert consensus with the overall goal of always improving the quality of health care available.
About The Joint Commission
Since its beginning in 1951, The Joint Commission has been committed to constantly improving the quality of health care for the public. It has done this by evaluating the safety and efficacy of healthcare organizations and providing certification and accreditations to almost 21,000 hospitals, organizations, and programs in the U.S. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is the oldest and largest health care accreditation body in the nation.
