The Livra™ system treatment combines microneedling and microchanneling to pretreat the skin before the application of a unique skin rejuvenation technique. Old fashioned microneedling procedures used long painful needles that produced deep damage to skin that led to prolonged down time and long recuperation. This groundbreaking technique is offered at our medical spa to help patients in the Capital District Albany and Saratoga Springs areas to achieve healthier, rejuvenated skin. The Livra™ system treatment improves a wide range of skin conditions and patient concerns as it stimulates an increase in collagen and elastin. The Livra™ system is considered by many dermatologists as the best skin rejuvenation technology of the last decade.
The Livra™ MD device comes with the brand’s proprietary microneedling and microchannel attachments that are sterile and disposable, ensuring our patients’ safety and preventing cross-contamination. These tools employ a perpendicular design, creating consistent micro-stamps across the skin with the help of the technology’s advanced motor technology. The Livra™ system has shown to effectively improve the look and feel of patients’ skin by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and acne inflammation. This procedure generally requires 3 treatments given monthly to reach a result plateau.
Who is a Candidate?
The Livra™ microchanneling (superficial microneedling) system can be used to treat a variety of skin types and conditions. Common concerns that have shown improvement from this minimally invasive treatment include the following:
- Acne scars
- Active acne breakouts
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Loose skin
- Dull-looking complexion
The process is most often performed on the face and neck, but it can be performed virtually anywhere on the body, including the arms, legs, trunk, and hips. The Livra™ system’s tools are available in multiple widths and needle lengths, allowing our team to fully customize each patient’s procedure taking into account the individual’s skin thickness to be more efficient, cost effective, and beneficial.
The Livra™ skin rejuvenation system can provide dramatic results for the right candidates. Patients can typically expect a combination of the following benefits following their recommended number of treatment sessions:
- Improved skin texture
- Tighter, firmer skin
- Brighter, healthier complexion
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Diminished scars, such as from acne
- More even skin tone
In addition to improving skin pigmentation and texture, the Livra™ system can be utilized for promoting hair growth by improving the health of the scalp and hair follicles.
Prior to the Livra™ treatment, the skin of the target area will be cleansed, and a numbing cream is usually applied to minimize discomfort throughout the process. In the microchanneling procedure, the handheld Livra™ device produces a controlled stamping motion with superficially applied microneedles. As this continues, the microchannel tip creates tiny perforations in the outer layer of skin.
Recuperation and Healing
For the first four to six hours after treatment, your skin may appear red and slightly swollen. This should gradually fade over time, often subsiding completely within the first 24 hours. Makeup can be applied as soon as one hour following treatment.
Most patients can see improvement after a single treatment with the Livra™ system, but multiple sessions may be recommended (typically three monthly treatments) to achieve optimal rejuvenation results. The treated skin should continue to improve over time as the body’s natural healing process takes effect. This allows patients to gradually achieve healthier skin that looks more even with fewer lines, better texture and feels smoother. Our staff will instruct patients on proper post-treatment care instructions to ensure they obtain maximum benefits from their procedure.
More personalized details of each patient’s procedure and recovery, as well as what they can realistically expect in their results, will be discussed with them in their consultation. For more details about the microchanneling please contact Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery, PC.
