Introducing the Vectus® Laser for Hair Removal

If you have unwanted hair on your face or body, laser hair removal is a highly effective solution offered at our medical spa that can provide long-lasting smooth skin. In addition to using the LightSheer® Diode Laser, Dr. Dimitri Koumanis is pleased to announce Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery is one of the only practices in the Albany and Capital District areas to offer the innovative new Vectus® Laser. This is currently the fastest, most efficient methods of laser hair removal available. The Vectus® Laser is the first laser system with an FDA-cleared melanin reader, making this customizable laser safer and more effective for all skin types. Vectus® uses the optimum light wavelength of 810nm specifically designed for hair removal.
Another defining feature of the Vectus® Laser is the unique ability to target and treat larger areas of the body without having to pass the laser over the same area more than once. With the Vectus® Laser, treatment sessions for areas such as the back or chest can be completed in less than fifteen minutes, allowing patients to return to their daily routines more quickly. To maximize patient comfort, Advanced Contact Cooling™ technology is used during treatment to counteract the warming sensation.
Multiple treatment sessions are still needed to achieve smooth skin, since not all hair grows at the same speed or in the same cycle. Vectus® removes dark and brown pigmented hair. No laser effectively treats blonde, white or gray, light-colored hairs. During the consultation process, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Koumanis, and our laser hair removal technicians will recommend how many treatment sessions will likely be needed to attain your desired results. You will learn why our Vectus® laser is your best choice in laser hair removal.

What to Expect During Your Breast Augmentation Recovery

Choosing to have cosmetic breast surgery can be a big decision, but that’s why the Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery and MediSpa staff is committed to helping you prepare for your procedure, from start to finish. Continue reading for what’s to be expected during your recovery process.
Recovery following a breast augmentation procedure will vary for each patient, as everyone heals at a different rate. However, most patients tend to experience a similar timeline. Typically, there will be about a one-week recovery period. This means resting in bed and allowing time for your body to heal, while taking any prescribed oral medications. You may be up and around walking immediately after surgery. Avoid lifting more than 10 pounds or doing any activities which cause you to perspire or are uncomfortable for about a month. As you start to feel more comfortable, you may begin light activities, but aerobic exercise should wait until about three to four weeks after surgery. Have someone at home assist you with your first few showers and be with you 24-7 during the first few days.
Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Dimitri Koumanis, will provide you with a support bra, gauze dressing supplies and a Velcro strap that will help hold your breasts in their new position. These will be worn for several weeks, but your sutures will likely be removed after two weeks, depending on how your body is healing.
Most patients can expect to return to work the first week following their surgery, keeping in mind their pain tolerance. Utilizing a driving service, or riding with a friend or family member, could be beneficial, as many patients find the motions of driving difficult and uncomfortable at first for a few weeks. And you cannot drive while taking pain medications.
More in-depth details about what to expect during your recovery will be discussed during your consultation and at your preoperative visit with Dr. Koumanis and our expert nursing staff. If you have anymore questions regarding breast augmentation, please call or email our practice.
Important Things To Consider Before Breast Augmentation
Choosing to have cosmetic breast surgery can be a big decision. That is why Saratoga Springs Plastic Surgery and MediSpa is committed to helping you prepare for your treatment by offering the following tips.
- Keep an open mind. Doing your research before having breast augmentation surgery is important, but being realistic is as well. If you’re starting as an A cup and want to have a DD cup, that typically can’t happen in one procedure—your body and skin need time to adapt. In addition, if you have a strong family history of breast cancer, are obese or smoke, these factors can increase potential risks for this surgery. Much information on the internet is not accurate. Nothing you might on an internet search concerning breast enhancement beats the information you will receive from Dr. Koumanis at your personalized consultation. Just remember to talk to Dr. Koumanis about your concerns during your consultation, have all your questions answered and have an open mind to their suggestions.
- Prepare your nest. This isn’t necessary, but you’ll be grateful for having done so. Having clean bedding with comfort items nearby can help you feel at ease during your postoperative recovery. Preparing meals beforehand and purchasing clothes to fit your new chest can also be beneficial. Keep prescribed medicine from the doctor close by to help with the pain, and call your doctor’s office with any questions. Enlist a close friend or family member who will be with you 24-7 for at least the first few days after your breast enhancement, and who can drive you to your follow-up appointments. Planning is essential for comfort, to ease post-op anxiety and to achieve the best possible result.
- Plan. Many practices offer financial assistance, so be sure to inquire about these options on their website and when you can attend you consultation. It’s also important to plan your time off schedule from work. The recovery time can be one week or more, and sutures are usually taken out within two to three weeks.
- Research. You’ll want to research different board-certified plastic surgeons to find one you feel comfortable with who specializes in doing breast implants. It’s also beneficial if they are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, both of which have high standards for involvement. Check their website for before-and-after photos and Google and other reviews, and ask to speak to their other breast enhancement patients to learn about their experiences and about their level of satisfaction with their results..
